Devlog #4:
Hi everybody! It's been a while since our last update, but this devlog will be short anyways.
Do you remember our suffering with the ball's physics? It's slowly coming to an end! We're still tinkering with its physics, testing different parameters for the impulse that Yamboman applies to the ball, changing its angle, etc.
While this doesn't seem like too much work, it is a big deal for us, as it is a crucial aspect of our main mechanics and we need to figure it out before adding complexity to it.
What else? We've added a score counter and two dummy Goal Areas. If the ball enters one of these areas, the counter will update. After the goal the game continues as if nothing happened, but we plan to "reset" the scene (or just the players position + ball) after a goal, to keep it real.
Disclaimer: Writing this I realized that the counters are in the wrong sides (it shows the player 1 score a player 2's goal side), but we'll fix this ASAP.
In terms of organization, these score counters and the previous timer are now part of a main HUD, which keeps control of the whole state, for now.
Below you can see the HUD in action, check the right counter when our Player 1 kicks the ball towards the goal. You can also see that the ball now gets kicked slighty upward. We might keep this or might change it later, as we told you before, this is still just a physics experiment.
Happily, this week we'll be working actively on Yambola, as we get to breathe again between Uni tests and our daytime work.
